Injectable Gerovital H3

Gerovital H3 – ampoule in the clinic setting

An emblematic Romanian therapy, integrated into modern longevity medicine

Gerovital H3 was developed in the 1950s by Prof. Dr. Ana Aslan, following her research on procaine and the biological processes associated with aging.

Starting from observations on the effects of procaine administered in low doses and in long-term treatments, Ana Aslan developed an original pharmaceutical formula, which became a landmark of Romanian geriatrics and gerontology.

Developed after several years of clinical and experimental research and presented to the medical community in 1956, Gerovital H3 was conceived within a medical vision oriented towards prevention and the maintenance of health and functionality as we grow older.

The active substance is procaine hydrochloride, and the official therapeutic indication of injectable Gerovital H3 is the prophylaxis of degenerative phenomena due to age.

At Maison Longévité, Gerovital H3 is integrated into a personalized medical approach to longevity, based on individual patient assessment, prevention and healthy aging.

Who is it for?

Gerovital H3 therapy may be addressed to people starting from the age of 40, not only to elderly people, in the context of a medical approach based on prevention and healthy aging.

Eligibility for treatment is established individually, according to general condition, medical history, associated pathologies and concomitant treatments.

Benefits and studied mechanisms

Depending on the patient's profile, the therapy may aim at:

Research on procaine and Gerovital H3 has analyzed several biological mechanisms involved in the processes associated with aging. Experimental studies have shown antioxidant effects and inhibition of lipid peroxidation, as well as effects on LDL oxidation, mitochondrial function and DNA damage induced by oxidative stress.

Procaine and its metabolites have also been studied in relation to monoamine oxidase (MAO), an enzyme involved in the metabolism of neurotransmitters such as dopamine, serotonin and noradrenaline. The literature also describes mechanisms of interest for brain function and the neurodegenerative processes associated with advancing age.

The effects of gerovital on peripheral circulation have also represented a direction of research, contributing to the interest in supporting the vascular component and microcirculation.

Regarding general condition and quality of life, a randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled study conducted in Shanghai on 100 adults aged between 50 and 89 reported favorable results for several components of quality of life, including vitality, general health and mental health, as well as favorable results regarding anxiety and cognitive function. The study evaluated the oral administration of G.H.3. For 12 weeks.

In osteoarticular pathology, clinical data in elderly patients with gonarthrosis and/or coxarthrosis have shown a reduction in pain and an improvement in functional capacity when a procaine-based complex administered periarticularly was combined with physical therapy.

Gerovital H3 does not replace the specific treatments of diagnosed conditions.

How is it administered?

Injectable Gerovital H3 is administered intramuscularly, within the clinic and under medical supervision.

Before starting the therapy, sensitivity to procaine is tested, and depending on the patient's profile the assessment may be completed with an ECG and laboratory investigations.

The indication, the administration schedule, the duration and the number of courses are established exclusively by the specialist physician in Geriatrics and Gerontology.

The treatment is carried out in a controlled medical environment, with monitoring of tolerance and of any adverse reactions.
